A very nice passive analog sounding SQ car.

Hi guys

gotta share this simple yet killer SQ system with you guys.

The owner of this car plays home audio and is not so much interested in staging. Previously, he was using the clarion D2 running an active setup, he said it was too much trouble and just wanted a simple yet good sounding setup.

My distributor recommended the Morel Limited Edition Elate 2 way component set.

Usually for customers that purchase this set of speakers, they are usually on a kind of DSP, ( H701, #F1, P90, Clarion D2) running an active setup, thus the Xovers are not in use. This is quite a waste as for the Limited Edition Morel Elates, the Xovers use some nice components.

So this was our first experience with pure passive 2 way limited edition setup.

As for amplifiers, he already had Butler 475.

This is one of my favourite amps, both for value and performance. this amp has loads of power and the sound is awesome! But down side abt this amp was that it lacked some dynamics and speed, thus we didnt have much success with Butlers for IASCA :((

For sub, currently at the shop, the ultimo is our all time favourite. THe owner wasnt going to drop a ton of money on a genesis dual mono extreme ( we encourge most of our guys on ultimos to get a Genesis dual mono extreme as the ultimo is a pretty hungry guy. )

The helix SPXL does ard 850 watts @ 4ohms and is still pretty affordable.

now for the magic of the system : the headunit.

Mac hus have always been really nice. Simple yet elegant. Maybe a bit dumb ( u cant fast forward the track).

But the sound it produces is simply amazing!

THough the staging was totally off, no EQ or anything, the sound was so full of emotions and feelings.

In our competition car, this is the kind of musicality we are trying to achieve.

Anyway, enough chit chat, here's some pics for you guys :)

Its a really simple setup, but hey, u don have to have a super fancy setup to have good sound :)

the car in question

the elate tweeter.
Most of the time, we use pods cnc from aluminium. But recently, we've been playing around with wood.

THe headunit... Lovely mac deck

for those who dont know the difference btw the normal elate and the Limited edition, one diff is the cone material. the limited edition uses a CF cone :)

and well, the rear. Simple sub with 2 amps. Owner didnt really care abt looks, just wanted good sound

Anyway, my competition build is on hold for awhile ( we're celebrating chinese new year and everyone's closed), so just some pics for you guys until the build continues. hehe

more installs to come

CHeers all

musicality achieved in there ? :)
wooffer looks different i must say ...
Well done lads...
heyaa..

the car definitely sounds great!!

the morel elate LE uses a carbon fibre cone, thats why it looks different . heheh

cheers!
nice wooden tweet pods, wonder if angle is adjustable after install?

the pod angle can be changed, just requires a little work to loosen up the screw, adjust the angle and then tighten it in place :)
kinda ball joint or sth simillar used? seems to be exactly what i'm planning to have, but can't find in any local metal shop.
any details you'd like to share on this?
for this we have a guy who C&Cs the pods for us.

maybe PM me with wat driver u are using and i'll see what can be done.

Cheers!
